Away on a Dream
Each night I close my eyes and launch my celestial boat
Floating across a starlit corridor near and yet remote
Far removed from my pain in the darkness I float
No worries no concerns I cast my vote,
Living a life in a parallel dimension
Seeing those who died in an honorable mention
Slipping and sliding beyond contention
Gazing into bliss, a new invention,
Leaving all those tears and regrets behind
Momentarily forgetting all that is maligned
Drifting across a celestial vine
A lover's kiss turned into crystalline,
Floating in a sea of endless possibility
No longer held down by what can never be
There she is waving to me
God don't let memory sabotage tranquility,
From in my capsule I open a blackened door
High up in the atmosphere hearing the comet's roar
Standing on a rock star stage they scream for more
I have traversed into the province of folklore,
Hearing the echoes of the pain and the past
I'm in my dream ship now raising the mast
Setting off into time and space at last
Far from earthly matters the spell has been cast,
I can feel her now aside me in this illusion
No rejection from the land of confusion
Safe from anxiety or possible contusions
Free energy as if from cold fusion,
Have I been seduced or simply been cast out?
There's no sound when I scream or shout
There's no room for failure or doubt
In a realm so nebulous is this what it's all about?
The ice queen who has frozen my heart
Vanquished by a lunar dart
No need to compete no need to act smart
No longer wounded by love that falls apart,
In a rowboat on a shimmering sea of stars
No longer smitten by old emotional scars
No longer drowning sorrows in bars
A glimpse at night of where angels are.
