Can’t go back to Snowflake Mountain
I can’t ever return to Snowflake Mountain
As magical as fireworks over a water fountain,
The illusion of my childhood memory
My recollection of a joyous jamboree,
Musical chairs and homemade pies
All the neighbors with such close ties,
Schools that actually taught about the facts
Shop for your Christmas tree with an axe,
You took your dog with you to the creek
Polishing up on your crappie fishing technique,
The smell of cookies in the air
Your next of kin were always there,
Picnics beneath the shade of the trees
Well-mannered children saying, “Please.”
They said, "God bless you,” if you sneezed
They weren’t too proud to pray on their knees,
This was once real life not just a fantasy
Snowflake Mountain was once a reality,
We weren't afraid of any clowns
When the circus came to town,
You didn’t steal or pull a knife
You didn’t have an affair with the neighbor’s wife,
Terrorism wasn’t a household word
Drag Queens were considered so absurd,
I can’t go home to Snowflake Mountain
If I could pay to go back I’d put any amount in.

Perfect response to the “Sugar Mountain” shite from the faux “summer of love”
That's good Doc V -a young niece liked it said it reminded her of her grandpa talking about the old days remembering the good times, smiling as she recalled it.
cheeki kea If this warmed your heart than it was worth it if I reached one person. Sure you can just remember who wrote it Dear. thanks
Doc V what a sweet little poem. I'll save it to my reading list. It bounces along nicely with mostly recognition of joy expressed and creates a feeling of lost wonder. I would only twink two little lines to put in in the home school collection. Here are my changes ... " (The inclusion of childhood memory)"- my recollection of joyous jamboree. and .... -You didn't steal or pull a knife "( Have any affair with trouble or strife )" hope you approve.
