There are events in history so influential that they changed the world forever. Unfortunately, it usually involves human suffering. The way that people and nations react to those events shapes the world even as we know it today. The finger prints of what happened seemingly so long ago are indelibly written in our collective memories as well as those much historically documented points in time that live forever out of a legacy of tragedy or, sometimes actually a humanitarian event like the cure for a much feared disease. However, World War II will forever serve as a warning to future generations as to what happens when threats are ignored and the delusions of some ideologies are too sinister to tolerate!
Lousy memory
Did America really learn from the Pearl Harbor attack as a prelude to World War II? Here is your answer. Once Great Britain and Europe were rebuilt thanks to billions leant from America, not to mention those crucial food drops behind the lines of the Eastern bloc countries captured by Russia, post war aggression and worries over another major conflict diminished. Even though a cold war emerged between the Soviet Union and the US, the feeling was that the world had learned a terrible lesson and nobody wanted anymore of it. Sadly, they were wrong. In the aftermath of WWII, you say billions of dollars of weapons from tanks to aircraft literally pushed off the decks of carriers at sea to be dumped into watery graves in hopes that these machines would never be needed again.
All over again
Yet, in 1950, Korea, the forgotten war, erupted and after more than 3 years of fighting only ended in a cease fire but not a formally signed peace agreement. When the North Koreans smashed across the 38th parallel and routed the ROK forces, the US and its allies rushed in unprepared. US Troops in Japan fresh out of their peace keeping mode as America oversaw Japan’s resurrection into a productive nation again, were hastily deployed into the ravaged and chaotic southern peninsula of Korea. Cooks, junior officers who’d never seen combat, and young National Guardsmen fresh out of high school completely unequipped for the North Koreans who had Soviet Tanks and were well supplied. Young men of peace time America became cannon fodder for the Communists! It is said that America was more unprepared for the Korean conflict than taking on the Japanese in the beginning of World War II after Pearl harbor.
A price to pay
This time America did learn its lesson, but at what cost? Today the US maintains more than 145 military bases in many foreign countries all over the world in response to just about every possible theater of operations one can imagine. From being the backbone of the NATO alliance to maintaining airbases and Naval bases in the Philippines and Thailand America has paid the price being the global policeman. As Robert Welch, the creator of the John Birch Society predicted that America would be drained of its vitality and resources being used as a global guardian against Communism by design. This was in the Communist playbook to force the US to spend itself into insolvency in response to the repeated threats and police actions all over the world from China, Russia, Central America, the Middle East and even Africa while her allies enjoy the security of American protection without paying the price. In looking at the current level of deficit spending in the US economy and the fiat status of the dwindling US dollar I would say that Robert Welch’s prediction was disturbingly correct.
Becoming our own worst enemy
In fact, about the only US President to call out our allies at NATO and ask them to pay their fair share got 40 billion dollars brought back to our coffers as a result of Donald Trump’s efforts, and our partners actually agreed that it was a good idea if they were going to continue to enjoy American presence in the politically unstable regions of the world. Unfortunately, the Democrats have continued to placate major enemies of the US who are in the development stage of nuclear arsenals (Iran) or using their new found capability to threaten their neighbors as in North Korea. With Bill and Hillary Clinton enabling North Korean nukes in the mid 1990’s and Obama and John Kerry negotiating the dangerously provocative Iran Nuke Deal by 2019 it seems our own government has been its own worst enemy as well as that of the American people, and here we are today at a perilous time. Who can forget the 150 billion worth of US sanction money secretly delivered to Iran along with interest when the sanctions were due to Iran's support of terrorism all over the world. The Democrats have had a long track record of collusion with our enemies!
