Confused and Odd
I’ve been set adrift in a cloud
So far away from fools talking too loud
The charlatans who all wear their shroud
That’s why I’ve never liked crowds,
There was a time I had some faith and hope
But there’s far too many at the end of their rope
Dumbed down with bad education and dope
I’m caught here standing on a box of soap,
I used to watch the contrails in the sky
Then I realized there more than meets the eye
Aluminum oxide several miles high
Do they intend for all of us to die?
You wanted me in a passionate moment in the park
Yet, at home you wouldn’t even make love in the dark
It’s quiet but in the distance I hear a dog bark
That look on your face, cold and stark,
These are the memories that make up a life
The love, the faith, in the midst of strife
Some of those recollections still cut like a knife
At times I wonder will I ever find another wife,
We are all victims of twisted fate
While to our own funerals we’d rather be late
Always wanting to be part of something great
I sincerely doubt the affairs of state,
They say all men and women are just a wounded child
How many of them regretted divorce after they filed?
When was the last time you truly smiled?
More likely you’ll go through life beguiled,
Sometimes I have to look up and ask God
How much more can you give me a nod?
The talented bypassed by those who plod
Isn’t this world quite confused and odd?
