Several intelligence agencies are showing interest in a new Danish IT tool that can unravel the extensive terrorist network. The system is the first of its kind in the world.

Danish IT researchers from Aalborg University Esbjerg has developed a unique Internet tool that can help security agencies to dismantle terrorist networks.
Using electronic spy trawler through the Internet for information about terrorists' contacts and movements, and many data are then analyzed by a clever mathematical algorithm that creates a model for network construction.
"The reason that intelligence agencies do not have as much success in dismantling terrorist networks is that they often go after the wrong ones. Even if you catch Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda is functioning the still, "says Assistant Professor Nasrullah Memon from the Department of Software, Electronics & Media Technology, creator behind the software, and continues:
"Imine-function compounds can see through a terrorist network's structure and detect terrorist mutual roles. It identifies the key people to be eliminated in order to destabilize the network. "
Nasrullah Memon has recently put the finishing touches on a prototype system whose impact he demonstrates in numerous scientific conferences. Together with his colleagues, he has just started to develop the prototype into a real product that can help predict terrorist activities.
The whole project has attracted international attention and Nasrulla Memon has already been approached by international intelligence services were interested in establishing a collaboration. In addition to talking with the Danish intelligence service, he recently met with a South Asian Intelligence Organisation and International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research.
"The leader of the center have expressed great interest in collaborating with us on verification of data," says Torben Rosenorn department.
The system is safe
Although the tool will analyze terrorists' shady connections, then Nasrullah Memon and his colleagues completely open about their product, being directly, they are not afraid of that system into the wrong hands.
"We do not expect the system to be misused in working with an architecture based on security and privacy policies in accordance with EU guidelines. In addition, the system is tailored to solve a specific task, such as identifying 'bad guys' and this feature is incorporated into the technology itself, so even if the terrorists would get their fingers into the system, so I have trouble seeing, what they can do with it, "said Nasrullah Memon.
In the long run you will be able to further develop the system to handle multiple investigations.
"We imagine that with the fully developed system will have users in sectors such police (organized crime), financial institutions (money laundering, fraudulent) intelligence services (predictions about future terrorist attacks), stock exchanges and insurance companies, "said Nasrullah Memon.
The great interest from many potential users have led researchers to seek funding to develop a real product in research and the EU.
"We are in the process of applying for funds to accelerate the work, as recent days' events in India and Thailand underlines the need. I am convinced that the prototype can be developed into a unique product. The IT tools available on the market today are either focused on gathering data about terrorists, or to build models, but we combine the two tools in one comprehensive product and it's the first time that's done, "says department Torben Rosenorn.
