Disembodied Voices
There’s no light in the forest I’ve found
As I grope around for a torn wedding gown
Life has made me feel like a clown
They say get up when you’re knocked down,
The illusions we see though before we die
It seems so many things are a lie
I can see those chemtrails in the sky
Why she left, why oh why,
The clock strikes in the witching hour
Just a taste of the bittersweet and sour
Upon your grave I placed this flower
Unlocking archeological evidence of the Eighth Tower,
The footprints left by love gone wrong
Just another melancholy song
Waiting for you I said, “Don’t be long.”
You were always a little too headstrong,
The dreams of youth that fade away
Defeated in a world of utter dismay
Nothing serious just wanted to play
How about another roll in the hay?
She came to me with a pure and fragile dream
On a cloudy day by a clear running stream
No ulterior motive no deceptive scheme
I couldn’t have known about the opiates in her bloodstream,
Spirits will straggle on
Like the mist that hovers above the lawn
Lovers will promise faithfulness and be gone
Like the disembodied voices of dawn.
