The hurricane that last night struck the Faroe Islands with gusts up to 51 m / s, has now set course for Norway. Here meteorologists sounded the alarm and sent a 'extremewarning '.
The storm, which the Norwegians have been named 'Berit' affects our neighbor in the middle of the afternoon with average winds of up to 32 m / s, there is strong storm - just below the threshold for hurricanes. Gusts will reach well over hurricane strength.
The entire Norwegian coast from the city in the south to Narvik in the north affected by the violent storm that will last until Saturday morning.
'Berit' is expected to bring waves of up to 30 meters in height, and the Norwegian meteorologists have issued an 'extremewarning 'for large parts of the country. This is the first time since January 2010 that Norway hit by 'extreme weather'.
The unusually severe weather may also have consequences for the Norwegian oil platforms in the Norwegian Sea. Statoil monitor the weather situation and is prepared to shut down the platforms.
