Yes I remember when the cats and dogs all died because of their food being bulked up with melamine with little more mentioned. It was not until after the babies died there from melamine in milk formula that prompted them to look into it eventually. I remember at the time Chinese ladies hiding around our supermarkets paying white people to buy them 2 cans of baby milk within their own shopping after limits got put on formula products because the Chinese were buying up whole shelf stocks which they were then sending to family or supplying a new black market through Hong Kong. I won't forget that because my favourite lollies also (white rabbit milk chews) made in china got recalled and instantly removed from the shelf along with all the other places importing them them from around the world and that disappointed many people because they are so good. (I had to learn how to make the lollies myself at home ) Anyways after this worldwide outrage and global embarrassment to China I do believe that the food producers were put to death. I would like to think the concern was over the deaths of their babies and cats and dogs rather than a widely known lollie scandal. But we made never know for sure. PS - in defence of White Rabbit milkies I can say they stopped using Chinese milk products and now import milk power for all their sweet goodies.
