I just finished a conversation with Keesha, a representative of Citigroup, who called me about paying off the debt they believe I owe. In a calm voice I read her this letter:
Your records will substantiate that I have been a creditor in good standing with your company for a number of years, however the ongoing revelations of your continuing crimes is cause for great concern and an immediate termination of any contract you may think you have on my behalf.
You have paid billions of dollars in fines, are currently involved in number of legal cases filed against you, and are heavily underwater now in more derivatives to the tune of almost 60 trillion dollars.
Citigroup has paid fines for: Predatory, deceptive and abusive lending related to mortgages, Securities fraud, including creating investment vehicles designed to fail, Accounting fraud, Brokerage fraud Bribery of government officials, Undisclosed conflict of interest in financial analysis and advice, Lying to shareholders and investors, Robbing consumers with abusive overdraft fees, Robbing homeowners by overcharging them by hundreds or thousands of dollars, when they were already in bankruptcy and foreclosure, Robo-signing of false affidavits and other legal documents as well as Discriminatory lending practices.
I am outraged by your malfeasance and acceptance of trillions of dollars of taxpayer money which you continue to use to further your crimes.
I have no obligation to pay a corrupt organization who also has ties to financing terrorism, instead it is my duty as a Moral Individual to refuse to help finance or participate in any way in your crimes against Humanity.
I also have the right to hold personally accountable those individuals who choose to act as representatives of your mafia shakedown syndicate and call to harass or threaten, intimidate or otherwise impede my activities and try to get me to be an accomplice to your/their crimes.
She acknowledged that I had been a good customer and gave me an address to send this to, letting me know that if I asked them to stop calling, they would. She refused to comment on the atrocities, and so I wasn't able to cover all of the below crimes I had in the list below:
Citigroup http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Wall_Street_crimes#C...
Settlement Amount: $590 million
Date: August 29, 2012
Enforcing Agency: Shareholders

Settlement Amount: $158 million
Date: February 15, 2012
Enforcing Agency: Department of Justice (US Attorney Preet Bharara)
Offense: Undermined the process that was supposed to check for mortgage fraud in order to push through reckless loans and get higher profits. Passed along subpar loans to the Federal Housing Authority, making "substantial profits through the sale and/or securitization of FHA-backed insured mortgages" while "it wrongfully endorsed mortgages that were not eligible." Erased the records of nearly 1,000 potentially fraudulent loans, and admitted to passing on loans that were "not eligible" for government guarantees.[47]
Settlement Amount: $75 million
Date: July 29, 2010
Enforcing Agency: Securities and Exchange Commission
Offense: Failed to disclose vast holdings of subprime mortgage investments that were deteriorating during the financial crisis and ultimately crippled the bank.[48]
Settlement Amount: $7 billion

Enforcing Agency: Securities and Exchange Commission, NY Attorney General
Offense: Bank agreed to buy back billions of dollars of illiquid auction-rate securities from hundreds of customers. Those customers have been unable to sell the securities, which they thought were as good as cash
Now we'll see where this goes. If any of you choose to do the same, please contact me and also let me know what your results are.
