From The Other Side
Even though everything in life is not what it seems
Tonight I saw my mother in a dream
There was anticipation in her eyes
So happy to see me as if she would cry,
I awoke alone in the depth of the night
A momentary miracle that didn't seem right
Why had she come to visit me?
Was it just a trick of my own mortality?
With a father as solid as a rock
And a mother tender and mild there to talk
I was a fortunate child to have had them both
I learned the value of honoring an oath,
Somehow I ended up where I am in the stillness
Captive of an isolation illness,
Did I get a glimpse of the past?
Or was there an apparition that couldn't last?
Was this a cruel twist of reality
Or was a mother who had passed just reassuring me?
Was this really simply a dream?
Or was it some warped cosmic scheme?
Thank you if you were just letting me know
That despite your passing a long time ago
You were reaching across that mortal divide
Mother you briefly came across from the other side.
