Ghosts in the Bedroom
One day runs into the next
Makes you wonder if you’re under a hex
Existence seems to have gotten too complex
Hurricane winds whip across the deck,
I want you here but you disappeared
Sadly, no one is near
Only the phantoms can hear
As your fate seems a bit unclear,
Remorse becomes a way to live
Even though you had to give and give
Only way to survive is to outlive
How many times must you forgive?
In a place where souls are buried
Thinking of the times I was married
To the island of the dead they were ferried
Forgot to thank God for being carried,
Forgotten and downtrodden we move on
Like a moth to a flame I’m drawn
Look at the world that evil has spawned
It’s been a long time since you’ve been gone,
Feeling like you’re in a daze
Hoping this is just a short-lived phase
All those recollections like a maze
Sometimes it gets hard to see through the haze,
Here is the grave of a love gone by
No epitaph, something’s in my eye
Who could care less, no one will pry
Walking through a desert arid and dry,
Up overhead a collision of clouds
Jesus was in a vault in a burial shroud
Somewhere a jilted lover cries aloud
Before your ordeal, you were so proud,
The unknown ellipsoid hovered from above
Observing a world of push and shove
Becoming more and more devoid of love
The ghosts in the bedroom I’m thinking of,
Drifting within the astral plane
Encountering spirits who’ve gone insane
Wondering if my life was all in vain
Red roses wrapped in cellophane,
Here’s the isle that time forgot
A form of asylum that can’t be bought
Peace of mind so many have sought
Waiting for the blood in my brain to clot,
True heroes more likely to become berated
As time goes on their deeds faded
Take my hand we’ll find a place well shaded
Saying this to the only lover who wouldn’t be jaded.
