At least 1,500 pro-amnesty protestors rallied in downtown San Francisco Saturday.
Local tea party members, and the Golden Gate Minutemen, approximately 40 of them, staged a counterprotest. Three of the
Patriots group were chased, beaten and injured by the pro-immigration
thugs. Arrests were made…developing….
From Arizona, Tom Spriggs of Facebook describes what happened at his protest.
I was at the illegal immigration protest today at the Arizona State Capitol. It was
a very interesting experience in that I learned a couple of things. And
I got to see a big chunk of cowardice out of the Phoenix City Police
Department. The protest itself was barely larger than the one a week
ago Friday when SB 1070 was signed.
One of the things I learned is that people of Hispanic background are VERY insistent that
the Southwest United States really belongs to THEM. In fact, some go so
far as to say that applies to all of North and South America. Just go
look at the posters in the pictures I took today.
We are talking about people that are very intransigent when it comes to opposition.
There were no more than eight or ten people there supporting SB 1070,
and yet they drew half of the crowd away from the protests to confront
them. The police have to get in the middle and separate the protesters
from the supporters.
I was in a weird position; I did not bring a sign so I could take pictures, but because
I did not have a sign, I was not allowed to stay with the supporters
after about 3:45 pm. In fact, one of the State Police said that if I
wanted to be on that side of the tape I needed a sign. So I was in the
weird position of having to be in the protest but not in with the
supporters. That actually ended up being a good thing. I was able to
watch something happen I never would have believed if I had not seen it
with my own eyes.
There were a few tense minutes when some of the more thuggish people (almost all white,
surprise surprise) decided to confront the police over the presence of
the supporters. The State Police were ready to deal with it and checked
the aggression of the troublemakers, and nothing happened for several
minutes.
Then the Phoenix City Police decided to escort the supporters away a few minutes after 4
pm. It was certainly an act of cowardice on the part of the police. And
they did not just escort the supporters away from the protest–they
actually walked with them to the parking lot and stood there to make
sure they left. I am sure the communist mayor of Phoenix, Phil Gordon
ordered the police to allow the supporters to stay just long enough to
make sure it didn’t look like the city was denying them their free
speech rights. Being an Open Borders guy, I am sure Phil Gordon is not
interested in the free speech rights of supporters of the law.
Fox News lied when they said supporters were able to take part. The rally started at 3 pm
and was supposed to last until 6 pm. The supporters were only allowed
to remain there for the first part of the rally then forced by the
police to leave.
I am just surprised that the city police decided to obey their marching orders. What
cowards. At some point the city police need to tell the mayor to go
pound sand, or they will lose the respect of the average citizen..
