Franklin's Focus 6/8/10
I distinctly recall candidate Obama criticizing candidate McCain's
position on offshore drilling. McCain wanted to lift a moratorium on
some areas and throw open the Gulf, the Atlantic coast, and the Arctic
for deep sea drilling. Obama, who was wanting to court the green vote,
strongly criticized McCain's position.
On March 31, 2010, Obama would propose a massive expansion of deep sea
drilling in the Gulf and on the Atlantic Coast.
Forgive me for returning for the nth time to a major bitch of mine.
Long before Obama won the Democratic candidacy, I was saying the man
cannot and must not be believed. He was a crook straight out of the
Chicago crime family who was involved in a massive defrauding of the
federal government in a huge housing project in Chicago. He was
rewarded by the Mob with a mansion! As a senator, he committed a
felony fraud during his second week as a senator. It was plain madness
to nominate and elect this man. He was a sleazy, manipulative s.o.b.
from day one.
While Obama was attacking McCain for wanting to engage in wide open
deep offshore drilling, he quite possibly was engaged in closeted
discussions with BP and other petroleum corporations. Once in the Oval
Office, he gave BP his permission to ignore the existing regulation
requiring a specifically named super safety system. It takes five
years to build this system, but it has NEVER failed. The cheaper
system, which takes only one year to build, has been known to fail,
and therefore has been BANNED; however, the president of the U.S. has
the power to suspend the ban, and Obama did so as a special favor to
BP. I am basing the latter charge on inference and educated guessing.
Obama was intent on achieving massive deep sea drilling, and he was in
a hurry. Well, his haste and that of BP blew up in their faces.
For his role alone, he should be removed from office. The legacy he
has now created for himself is mind boggling. The Gulf may not fully
recover in his lifetime or even in this century. Nobody really knows.
We just know the damage is mind boggling.
As a part of paving the way for the gestating Gulf of Horror, Obama
immediately weakened the Minerals Management Service. This weakening
apparently had been a top priority of Obama since day one, which is
one reason why I suspect he had clandestine meetings with BP. At the
time that Obama was mutilating the MMS, the director was Elizabeth
Birnbaum. Ironically, she was an Obama appointee! My guess is she was
not willing to sabotage her own department for the benefit of BP or
any other petroleum giants, so she quit. The White House management
team went to work, and it was reported that Birnbaum had been fired
for poor management. This Obama operates much like a capo de tutti capi.
Exactly why she quit, has simply not been explored by our bovine
media, but some close observers believe she quit rather than preside
over the castration of a vitally important department. I give her
credit for her integrity. I just wish she had published what had gone
on in her department before she resigned. This is my take on that
situation, but it clearly is not the take of the mainstream media.
Take your choice.
The longer Obama stays in office, the more his presidency looks like a
continuation of the Bush presidency in character, design, and goals.
During the campaign, I heard liberals saying anybody would be better
than Bush. It just might be that the Obama presidency will turn out to
be worse. He is now overseeing the longest war in American history
with no apparent plans to ever withdraw. He has ruined the Gulf for at
least another ten years if not a half century. He dumped vast sums of
money on banks and finance institutions that should have been broken
up into small institutions so that they could fail without making a
ripple. And on and on and on.
Not one of the 90% of my readers who unsubscribed when I went after
Obama has returned to the fold. Perhaps they are embarrassed. In any
case, it suggests what a stone wall we are beating our heads against.
There are none so blind as those who simply will not look and are
habitual excuse weavers for the president.
Today's Quote
You all know my answer is for rehabilitating our alleged democracy. We
must somehow give birth to a form of democratic socialism. That, of
course, is no more then a pipe dream born most of the time out of
potent weed. When I have these dreams, the words of Shakespeare
sometimes drift through my thoughts:
'Dreams are the children of an idle brain,
Begot of nothing but vain fantasy;
Which is as thin of substance as the air.
And more inconstant than the wind.
Romeo and Juliet, 1596
Warmest regards,
Richard
