I spoke in a church last weekend where they actually sang this song.

I know it is probably hard for many “evanjellyfish” to believe, but there was a day when Christians believed it honored our Lord to put up a little fight.

Our nation was built on that Spirit. Today we have traded the “Black-Robed Regiment” for the “Pink-Laced Pastor”.

The idea that there is a firing line, or that Christians are supposed to man it, is anathema to today’s Prissy Pastors. In fact, we have created a whole new genre of “worship music” designed to “effeminize” the men in the church.

We sing “love songs” to Jesus as if He was our boyfriend. Rather than a slobbering love affair with Him perhaps we would be better off singing of our fidelity to him.

Fidelity…Semper Fi…the manly love one Marine has for another…is the type of love we need to express towards our Spiritual Commander-In-Chief. Not the gushy can-I-sit-on-your-lap-and snuggle-songs we currently sing to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Catch a load of these lyrics and see if they make you feel like fighting.

“Open my eyes Lord. I want to see Jesus. To reach out and touch Him to show Him I love Him.”

Actually, the songs are foolish. “His eyes are as a flame of fire.” They show a lack of fear of the Lord.

Sorry, but they make me feel like I need my belly rubbed.

And the worship leaders…oh my goodness. Most are flaming metro-sexuals with their sissified moussed hair, designer sneakers, and soft-spoken ways diluting manhood as surely as a dose of salt-peter.

Instead of Toby Keith we get Jackson Browne. Is it any wonder most real men feel uncomfortable in church? Does Jesus really appreciate men singing “love songs” to him? The idea of any of my knuckle-dragging Christian buddies singing love songs to me gives me the willies…

I am all male and I love Jesus the same way a Marine loves his buddy. Let’s stop sissifying the relationship. I am willing to die for Him, just as He was for me. It is blasphemous the way we have stripped Jesus of His manhood.

Sorry to vent.

Most Pastors don’t even know what a firing line is. They think it's a place where soldiers go to stand and be shot at. That somehow Jesus is glorified when His soldiers passively stand by and allow themselves to be pin-cushions for the enemy.

“Turn the other cheek, Coach. Jesus didn’t fight back.” What a bunch of bunk. No wonder the Devil is eating out lunch.

The term “firing line” is a military term that originates with the black powder era. It refers to formation from which soldiers launched attacks on the enemy. In the days of single-shot rifles, or even bow and arrows, the firing line was the manner in which soldiers took turns shooting at the enemy.

Today, most churches don’t recognize the enemy, nor our need to fight him. Although the “weapons of our warfare are not carnal”, the battle manifests in human form. Both God and the Devil work through men.

The weaponry is offensive. No team every gained victory by merely playing defense. Jesus said “the gates of hell will not prevail” against the church. Gates don’t move. The church is supposed to. The Kingdom is designed to advance.

Violate is the root word of violence. To violate means to “break or disregard the law.” The law of God has been impugned in America with the passive acquiescence of the pulpits. They are not violent men. They refuse to fight for what rightfully belongs to the Lord. They are content building their own Kingdoms instead of defending God’s.

Overcome evil with good. Boy, what a concept. You mean good actually triumphs over evil? Is it possible that an active, engaged, uncompromising church could have an impact on the culture? Could a unified church “violate” the enemy’s camp and restore the Law of God to Its rightful place? You mean the term “victorious church” applies to the here and now? That victory in Jesus is more than just pie-in-the-sky-in-the-great-by-and-by? The possibility of victory here and now can revolutionize the way you serve Jesus.

Look at what happened in the recent election. There is no doubt that Obama administration and their henchmen are evil. Most of what they do flies in the face of Jesus’ teachings. The Republican Party, certainly the lesser of two evils, triumphed over the Godless Democrats thanks in large part to the Tea Party movement.

If “patriotism” can triumph over evil can you even begin to imagine what the Church could do?

But the cold, dead, self-centered, “good for nothing” Christianity emanating from most American pulpits is powerless and unwilling to storm the gates.

Our pastors are cowardly. They are afraid to take a stand, to speak the Truth, to afflict the comfortable, by opposing the over-reaching arm of Caesar. Only Christ’s Church can “take it by force.”

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19.

It seems to me that Jesus gave us the power to defeat evil. Why won’t we act like it? He is speaking about a Spiritual war; about the war between the “seed of the serpent and the seed of the women” being played out on planet earth

The armies are arrayed and our pastors want nothing to do with it. They refuse to take up their place on the firing line.

I have always coached by the motto, “When in doubt, blitz.” The Kingdom of God has suffered violence. I say it is time to storm the gates. That was Christ’s clear mandate for the church.
