In an epic smackdown, Moscow exposed Obama’s “strange” habits regarding U.S.-Russia diplomatic relations.

Adding insult to injury, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova revealed that the Obama administration asked Moscow to keep secrets for him.

But Russia won’t keep those secrets much longer. At least not unless Trump repairs the shambles in which Obama left U.S.-Russian diplomatic relations.

Russia trashed the “transparency” president’s State Department for its tradition of leaking information meant to be kept private.

As Zakharova explained:

“Over the past few years we’ve seen many strange things happen in Washington…. The U.S. Department of State has more than once asked us not to announce planned visits until the last minute. … We did as they asked. But a day or two later the information was leaked by the U.S. State Department and sometimes by the [Obama] administration. Frankly, this put Russia and the media in a strange situation, because they didn’t know who to believe – the official agencies or the many leaks.”

Then Moscow’s foreign minister disclosed how different Russia’s approach to the U.S. will be under Trump, compared to Obama. Russia says it became necessary to block bilateral relations with the U.S. under President Obama. With Trump, Russia is ready to rebuild the relationship.

“We said that we were willing to work with the new U.S. administration, under President Trump. … Simply, we should start concrete practical work.”
