Life's Irony Bus
The days roll on from dusk to dawn
Like a phantom never gone
Those with broken hearts move on
Like soldiers who are unwilling pawns,
You're not here but you are in a way
Like waiting for a Redwood to sway
Seems no one ever wants to stay
Fools always living day by day,
That was the way I lived life
Regrets cut deep just like a knife
I was like you once so impulsive
But the consequences became repulsive,
Like a general who ordered his men to die
Left to re-evaluate the reason why
In the end what is there to live by?
Somewhere I hear a mother cry,
From a distance trying to read your mind
But you and I were not one of a kind
The war of love is always misaligned
Capturing the spoils whatever you can find,
While one lives and loves so free
There will be the depressing casualty
Where one seeks truth meaningfully
The other seeks asylum so easily,
Your choice it would seem to be
Lose yourself in the next lover joyfully
Conveniently leaving behind the memory
Like watching a seagull fly out to sea,
Lord carry me I asked before
Something waiting behind that invisible door
Life should have meant so much more
Seems there was an abundance of hope before,
Only fools are left to ponder the past
Even knowing opportunities do not last
These wounds leave their mark on all of us
All aboard you're on life's irony bus.
