It could happen sooner but I think it will probably happen this way (history is with me on this).... A crash course in "Street Economics 1A":

This is NOT, repeat NOT a twenty dollar bill. This is a green piece of paper that says it's worth $20. Once the people lose the faith that this green piece of paper will buy anything...then it's going to get ugly. Lines at the banks, gas stations, grocery stores...you name it. Everyone will be frantically trying to convert whatever money they may have left into real goods-- or looting for the same.

On a side note...why shouldn't they "plan" on being around awhile? They're already in power and as long as they can keep the lies going and the people happy, they'll stay in power. Doing anything else puts them out of power immediately :/
