Modern Day Insanity

In the scheme of things it didn't work out as you planned
So you found yourself floundering on desert sands
You missed the free offers for antidepressants at the soda stand
All of this as we watch the drug cartels expand,

My answer to the cruel things you used to say
Was to pour wine on them until they washed away
All that came out of your foolish brain without delay
And to think I said, "Stay Baby won't you stay?"

There are greater misfortunes suffered by you and I
Such as the government's lies
Of Which most of societies problems are comprised
Oh to be insulated from the very crises you have devised,

Take a look at modern day insanity
It is the most abundant commodity
If you don't ascribe to it you are an oddity
Excuse me I won't be attending the ceremonial fragility,

If you read the headlines you should be appalled
Man beats woman in airport for no reason at all
Rioters burn police car downtown what a ball
As the city burns the reporter says everything's calm that's all,

People at each other's throats
While the sociologists take notes
Another tool the government can use if it floats
The megalomaniac leftist billionaires gloat,

And you ask me why I need to find sanctuary?
How about I just remarry?
Opinions and levels of consciousness may vary
At times the fate of the human race appears scary,

I'm hovering between cynicism and dismay
To the tomb of the unknown soldier wherever it lays
Did you get a frontal lobotomy or is this just a phase?
Society needs to be under a sheep shepherd's gaze,

Sun spots causing a warming trend
However the indoctrinated tell us it's the end
The conformists with narratives they can't defend
The falsehoods and mysticism upon which we depend,

In life we face one hurdle after another
Some of us living lies we constantly have to cover
The powers that be would have bother against brother
Did you give her too much love and smother her?

Always playing the blame game no one is accountable
World problems engineered to be insurmountable
Wish I could say my actions were always redoubtable
Did I hear them say nothing is impossible?
