Mysterious and Vast

Somewhere between the wrong and the right

Between the dawn and the night

Between evil and the good fight

An optimistic future vanished from sight,

Worn down by life, love and pain

The continual news of the world being insane

My efforts to make sense of it all in vain

Increasingly mankind with a ball and chain,

So many of your countrymen in a delusion

Don’t argue with the crowd you could get a contusion

Freedom becoming more and more of an illusion

Government refusing to arrive at a solution,

I can almost see the four horsemen of the apocalypse

They say loose lips sink ships

Too many these days losing their grip

You can’t even make a machine without microchips,

Who is listening who is watching you have to ask?

Watch out for oxygen deprivation from that mask

Urged to take a toxic injection is your next task

Doctor Jekyll drinks from a flask,

Memories of things that were never meant to last

Tormented by the loss of love in your past

Another tragedy and the flag’s at half mast

I stand on the shore gazing at a sea mysterious and vast,

When was the last time you heard a child laugh?

Too worried about your profits cut in half?

A lawyer used to persecute others on your behalf?

Frivolous preoccupations to be your epitaph?
