There’s evil about and the situation is in doubt

Was it am invasion or a route?

Is there any faith anymore left in the devout

It seems Satan has been given a lot of clout,

Down here in the trenches we can only survive

While the megalomaniacs thrive

While society takes a deep dive

It’s all anybody can do just to stay alive,

Where to find love and romance

It seems the world is on the verge of a death dance

All over the misperception of the circumstance

All as the conquerors advance,

Currency no longer backed by gold

Arguments over reality growing old

Our politicians have been bought and sold

On the precipice of annihilation all told,

Memories of you I cannot ignore

Sometime I could just collapse on the floor

Absolutely no one knocking at my door

Never have I known this feeling before,

Leaving it all in the hands of God

Still it seems so vague and odd

Maybe I should have joined a rifle squad

There’s the face of death and I give it a nod,

People have become hostile over small things

Little toleration for what empathy can bring

The loss of love and the tears that sting

Oh the wonder just to hear a bird sing.
