No Longer Needed Anymore
As night shadows crawl across the floor
The realization that you’re not needed anymore,
The dew glistens on the grass
The lonely hours slowly pass
The locusts descend in mass
Memories of my love, such a young lass,
A flash of bitterness My God just let it pass
Little girl you’re much too young to sass
The sea of tears is much too vast
When it all becomes too much I reach for the flask,
As night shadows crawl across the floor
The realization that you’re not needed anymore,
In the midnight hour comes a knock at my door
A question in my mind, “What is this life for?”
I’m so sorry Mam for being such a bore
Remembering she used to complain because I snore,
The welcome rain that falls
Upon the roof of all the dying malls
In light of the few heroes left who stand tall
The ghosts of warriors who patrol the Great Wall,
As night shadows crawl across the floor
The realization that you’re not needed anymore,
All those words whispered inside your head
Your soul feeling heavily weighted down with lead
Unlike the wings of a butterfly that have spread
Thinking of the mouths of the hungry who need to be fed,
No longer needed anymore
Like rotted driftwood by the shore
Living in the midst of evil minions by the score
Dreaming of a love I can adore.
