Update (1415ET): Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam rejected a request from Secretary of Defence Mark Esper to send up to 5,000 of the state’s Army National Guard to Washington, D.C., the Associated Press reported.

Northam’s chief of staff, Clark Mercer, told AP that:

"The president’s remarks to the governors heightened our concerns about how the guard would be used."

Additionally, NYC Mayor De Blasio rejected Trump's assistance:

"We do not need, nor do we think it's wise for the National Guard to be in New York City, nor any armed forces."

"When outside armed forces go into communities, no good comes of it. We have seen this for decades," de Blasio said. "They are not trained for the circumstance here."

And DC Mayor Bowser refused help and jabbed back

"I call upon our city and our nation to exercise great restraint even while this President continues to try to divide us."

We wonder at what point they will beg for assistance our the taxpayers in their cities revolt?

Other states were more polite in their rejection with Texa Governor Greg Abbott saying, no military assistance was needed, "Texas can take care of Texans."

Update (1120ET): More than 18,000 National Guard troops will be assisting law enforcement authorities in 29 states, according to the head of the National Guard, adding that an additional 1,500 National Guard troops from other states will be shifted to Washington, D.C.

The National Guard Chief said there were no reports of injuries to any service members deployed across American cities, despite worsening social unrest on Monday night.

The U.S. military said it had increased force protection level at the Pentagon and military bases in the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. Increasing force protection at bases does two things: allows bases to counter-terrorist or other hostile adversaries.

Moments after the news hit that the National Gaurd upped its deployment across the U.S., President Trump tweeted:

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

NYC, CALL UP THE NATIONAL GUARD. The lowlifes and losers are ripping you apart. Act fast! Don’t make the same horrible and deadly mistake you made with the Nursing Homes!!!

Update (0830ET): Last night saw the worst of the violence aimed at police officers with one dead, at least five shot, and at least four more run over by "protesters."

At least five U.S. police were hit by gunfire during violent protests over the death of a black man in police custody, police and media said, hours after President Donald Trump said he would deploy the military if unrest does not stop.

  • -One US Marshall killed in Las Vegas

  • -Four officers shot in St. Louis

  • -At least two officers run over in Buffalo, NY

  • -One NYPD officer run over in the Bronx

  • -Another run over in Greenwich Village

An emotional St Louis police commissioner, John Hayden, said about 200 protesters were “jumping up and down like crazy people”, looting and throwing fireworks and rocks at officers.

Hard to describe how rampant the looting was tonight in Midtown Manhattan and how lawless it was. Complete anarchy. Literally hundreds of stores up and down Broadway, Fifth Ave,
