The ABC Australia reports:
The Federal Government will work with the US on what help it can offer as Australia recovers from the devastating floods.
Prime Minister Julia Gillard said US president Barack Obama had rung her and confirmed an offer already made by its government to provide any assistance.
"I've specifically spoken to president Obama about the kind of assistance we might need and that included expertise that can come to the Australian military about the kind of manpower and specific capability they may have to assist Queensland as it moves into reconstruction and recovery".
Apparently, the US military knows quite a bit about rebuilding destroyed sh*t. Thanks very much Mr Obama, but you can shove your military intervention assistance and expertise somewhere it doesn't fit. We really don't need you here forcing us to award Halliburton reconstruction projects. Contract them to rebuild a road and we'll get a prison, or a road of prisons, or a prison with roads in it.
