On a Fiery Ladder

Ever wonder just where your life went?

Not how did you manage the rent

How you reacted to those important events

The holocausts we are unable to prevent?

That loneliness killing you so slow

I wish I could save your soul

But you see I’m down in that very same hole

A black hole into which few would want to follow,

My boat was made of straw as I launched into the sea

Soon the leaks of my life would face me

There’s a fog in my struggle to be free

Those humbling incidents wouldn’t you agree?

I encounter you like a ship passing in the night

Blind hope and foolishness navigated my sight

Trying to determine what it was with all my might

I allowed it to become an entanglement of delight,

For you it was nothing more than a transition

You managed to manipulate with such precision

However I looked at love with a different definition

The fool I am on a fool’s mission,

They say don’t look back never look back

Usually spoken from the mouths of hacks

No need for a conscience when you have to distract

Coming in for the kill you have to have the knack,

Realizing that to them you don't matter?

Only a question of how many lives you’ll shatter

The human heart served on a silver platter

Descending to oblivion on a fiery ladder.
