Pawlenty rewords his 10th Amendment statement to save himself

Gov. Tim Pawlenty, in his sudden quest to be more of a ridiculous Sarah Palin figure instead of a well-reasoned governor, raised some eyebrows when he suggested he might consider asserting state rights and suing the federal government to reject President Obama's health care reform plan in Minnesota. Citing the 10th Amendment, he sounded just slightly off his rocker.

On Friday, and again during the weekend, Pawlenty stepped back from that comment so he sounded slightly more logical.

Pawlenty's backtrack on Friday, according to Minnesota Public Radio:
"I'm not saying that we're going to do anything unusual or abnormal. I'm just saying we're going to remind the federal government that there's a proper role for them and for the states," said Pawlenty. "We're trying to keep that in focus."

His original statement last week, according to Politico:
"Depending on what the federal government comes out with here, asserting the 10th Amendment may be a viable option but we don't know the details. As one of the other callers said, we can't get the other callers, we said we can't get the President to outline what he does or doesn't support in any detail. So we'll have to see, I would have to say that it's a possibility."
Pawlenty was also on ABC this weekend morphing his statement:
