Persistence of Memory
You said it was over a thing of the past
The persistence of memory it always lasts
The role of a fool for which I was cast
I’m afraid the storm has torn down the mast,
My sail boat in the stormy sea
The bottom of a bottle will never set me free
Blinded to the destination that will be key
I’m off course headed for tragedy,
Remember a different time when there was hope
Remembering when love was not this slippery slope,
The illusion of feelings like my Medusa or so it seems
Paralyzing my mind with my hopes and dreams
All the Sirens of my turbulent strife
Beckoning me to the ship wreck of my life,
I’m just this sailor adrift in the sea
Imprisoned by the persistence of memory
What is gone and can never be
Forever tortured by the persistence of memory,
Remember a different time when there was hope
Remembering when love was not this slippery slope,
You said it was over a thing of the past
The persistence of memory it always lasts
The role of a fool for which I was cast
I’m afraid the storm has torn down the mast.

Central Scrutinizer yes Dude all of my stuff is original! I actually self published 2 books of poetry and donated all of them to the USO for our veterans along with thousands of dollars worth of my printed novels. The only thing I got back was a form letter from the USO that was so impersonal it was almost an insult. But, what the fuck, I gate it all away! My ex never thought anything I did was good unless it made money and she paid no attention to the 4 radio shows about my UFO articles that I was interviewed about. What have I been in love with all my life? Shit, I must be a fool.
Are these your works Doc??,... friggin sweet ;)
