No one on the other end of the phone

The world has a heart as cold as stone

Is that me I hear in my sleep when I moan?

If God made woman for man

Then please tell me what was the plan?

Searching for a gold coin in a can

Drifting in an empty see of sand,

The nights are dark and long

I’ve listened intently for her song

The years go by and you’re not so strong

It just feels all wrong,

The days of wine and roses disappear

Sleeping alongside hidden fears

Trying to rise above cruelty and smears

The meaning you once knew becomes unclear,

Just to hear that gentle voice again

How long has it been? Can’t remember when

Not so sure when did all this happen?

The best laid plans of mice and men,

Life has been taken over by some terrible power

With the crackle of thunderstorm showers

Sitting in a daze for hours

The world under the spell of evil powers,

In my dreams I’m headed for a sphere

Where everything is not as it appears

I don’t think I want to look in the mirror

I sense mass delusion don’t come near!

Looking back into the past

Nothing was ever intended to last

Is all reason and wisdom fading fast?

This couldn’t be the role for which I was cast,

Not left long enough within my dreamscape

Like watching a rocket launch from the cape

I fear that there’s just no escape

An eerie full moon begins to take shape,

A man lives within a woman’s heart

Until the great betrayal when he’s torn apart

How can he possibly know from the very start?

Until he collapses from being pierced by the poison dart.
