Feeling like a past chapter
Time has not been a benevolent captor
I know how it feels to nearly be an extinct raptor
Perhaps I wasn’t the best adaptor,

What is and what could never be
A history of missed opportunity,
Storms that threw my life’s voyage off course
Night time visits remorse
The sad realizations of divorce
Knowing I wasted precious resource,
The lost horizon closer than it has ever been
Love no longer will let me in
How long must I be punished for past sins
Perhaps I should have worn a badge of tin,
A cloudy sky of deeds in the past
Funny how nothing is meant to last
Wondering if an evil spell has been cast
The sea of hopelessness much too vast,
Estrangement has become an invincible foe
How does alienation grow?
Perhaps from the poison seeds I sowed
Remembering when the warmth of love would glow.
