Straight up pimpin for WeAreChange 12.160 MHz By Marklar Sunday, March 15, 2009
I'm only one person.
I'm too busy.
Protests don't work.
I'm just the little guy.
Nothing I do will matter.
I'm not a good public speaker.
I'll let the experts handle it.
It's not my job.
I don't have any authority.
There are about a million and one reasons not to become an activist. Most of them have been hammered into you time and time again by a corporate media that wants you to feel weak, insignificant and small, and to just keep your grubby little serf hands out of it all and leave the decision making to your "betters". Sometimes it is hammered into you by those who have bought this line of garbage already and want to discourage you so they themselves will not feel ashamed of themselves for not being active and engaged citizens. Misery and self-loathing, after all, love company.
Now that you have awakened or are in the process of awakening to the dire circumstances facing your nation you have an obligation to do something about it. Whether that is a little or a lot is up to you but please do SOMETHING. As you ponder upon your role and what you can do I would like to direct your attention to the activist group WeAreChange.
WeAreChange has developed a reputation for speaking truth to power in ways that others sometimes find to be audacious, and why not? With chapters across the US and internationally (UK, Australia, Ireland, Belgium,... just to name a few) WeAreChange can easily be considered the prime mover in the infowar. Rather than being a structured movement like traditional activist organizations WeAreChange is a loose collection of individual chapters and independent guerrilla infowarriors. This makes it light on organization but heavy on flexibility and the ability to adopt and try out new tactics or to leave old ones behind when they prove ineffective.
The greatest aspect of WeAreChange is that it operates primarily via distribution of educational material rather than the same tired old protest paradigm. Person to person contact with plenty of documentation in hand to back up what you are trying to relate to people is a powerful tool for activism. That being said the traditional protest or freeway bannering should not be completely overlooked as valuable tools as well when used in the right time and place.
While WeAreChange primarily works to expose the 9/11 cover-up it also focuses on a number of other issues such as the plight of the first responders sickened by the toxic dust at ground zero, the Federal Reserve, the IRS, the NWO, the SPP/ NAU, the history of false flag attacks, the Illuminati, and many others striving to educate themselves and to pass that information on to the public. So if you are at least somewhat knowledgable on even a few of these issues this could be the place for you to connect with others, learn more, and share what you have learned with the public.
Since joining WeAreChange almost 2 years ago I have met a presidential candidate and a vice presidential candidate, have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize (along with the millions of others involved in the 9/11 truth movement), have made the evening news, have met with the home district manager of my senator, and have distributed DVDs and flyers by the ton, and have been personally thanked by many dozens of citizens for fighting the good fight with nothing but great sincerity showing in their eyes. This, despite the fact that in any other way imaginable I am a nobody, the little guy, powerless, and just one person - just as they keep telling me I am on television. If I listened, they would surely be right. Screw them, I am a giant, I am legion, and I will NOT be denied. THEY can be the ones to just step aside and let their betters take care of things for them. Let's see how they like those apples (not at all, I'll assume).
Some have asked why I do it, what got me started and the answers to that are multitudinous but I'll relate a not so small part of that answer to you. There is a great song by Trent Reznor and David Bowie called "I'm Afraid of American" and the main lyrics go:
I'm afraid of Americans I'm afraid of the world I'm afraid I can't help it I'm afraid I can
And that last line is the kicker. There have been many accidental heroes in history upon whom history has pivoted. Just one person, the little guy, like Rosa Parks among others. So you cannot know if you will be the one upon whom the entire tide of history for a whole people may shift. Chances are that you are not, it's true, but the chance that you are is made much slimmer by not trying. So, what if just a little effort may have put you in the right place and the right time to better the world and you chose to do nothing at all instead? I personally find that to be a rather horrifying thought - "I'm afraid I can".
To join your local chapter, however, you will likely need to go to meetup.com. Simply sign up for a meetup.com account and search their system using the keyword "wearechange". The system should give you a list of wearechange groups with those closest to you at the top of the list. Join your local WeAreChange meetup group and you've joined WeAreChange.
Be sure to check out your local WeAreChange events calender. This will tell you where and when you can meet other members. Some people prefer to meet the members before they join and many groups have social gatherings, movie viewing events, and other "soft" gatherings that are a great way to meet members in a relaxed atmosphere as opposed to jumping right into street activism with both feet.
What if there is not a chapter close to me? ___________________________________________________________________________________
If there are no chapters close to you the answer is simple - start one. Our chapters around the country don't spring up fully staffed and funded with dozens of members. Start a local WeAreChange meetup on the meetup.com system. The more chapters there are taking action the more likely it is that someone in your neighborhood will find your meetup and join you and we are growing as an organization every day. Even if you're from a small town you may be surprised. If you register your group with the guys at wearechange.org you may even be able to get re-imbursed for some of your expenses in creating flyers and DVDs.
If you do form a new chapter you should contact the organizers for some of the other chapters in your state or relatively close to you. Most will have a lot of experience in this sort of thing and will be more than happy to share their knowledge and ideas with you.
Be sure to speak regularly with your nearest ACLU chapter. Many people do not like the ACLU but they have the legal resources and experience to guide you on what is or is not a legal protest action. You need to know your rights and when you may be in legal jeopardy so you can make well informed decisions on when to press for your rights and when to give ground since local and state laws vary a lot.
