Hundreds of demonstrators are gathered at Terminal 4 at Kennedy Airport Saturday evening, where 11 refugees have been detained in the aftermath of President Donald Trump's executive order cracking down on immigration from Muslim-majority countries.
Amid outrage over the unprecedented detentions, protests began earlier in the day and are growing Saturday evening, fueled through social media.
The emergency protest began outside of the international arrivals area of the terminal. Protesters began rallying about 11 a.m. and held up signs that read, "Legal Visas = Let Them In," "Let my friends in," "No ban, no wall," and "Refugees are welcomed here" as they chanted "No hate, no fear. Immigrants are welcomed here!"
