Rivers that Kill

Everyone hates me and can’t figure out why

Could it be the providence of the all Seeing Eye?

It seems not even the angels care to cry

What is this secret world that I deny?

The wall of water came crashing down

Devouring small quiet towns

Yet weather altering operations abound

No conspiracy theorists can be found,

Stories of tragedies seem inexplicably real

It’s not about tall tales or how you feel

The left will inject racism with such zeal

While not lifting a finger to provide a meal,

There is little we can trust in the modern day

It’s just a matter of connecting the dots some say

Others simply call for us to pray

While the evil ones seem to have their way,

Beautiful rivers that manage to kill

Too many dying on opioid pills

More and more people can’t afford their bills

While the body bags lie silent and still,

Swimming through a world of despair

No time to ask whether it’s justified or fair

Dreamed of my ex in a moment that was rare

Asked did you ever love me, did you ever really care?
