Ron Paul Secret Victory! Iowa Merely a Straw Poll :)

Despite the media attacking Ron Paul AND his supporters for two weeks we STILL tied with Romneycare and Sometorum

I received this email from the campaign office this afternoon...

There was a secret victory for Ron Paul last night. His voters stuck around to help elect delegates. CNN reports that Paul, Santorum, and Romney received 7 delegates each, with Gingrich and Perry each receiving 2.
Last night's tumultuous Iowa vote was merely a straw poll. The real work occurred much later!

Here's how I understand it: The raw vote totals last night were meaningless. It's what happened afterward that counts. Whoever stuck around after the polls closed got to help pick the delegates to the County Conventions, which are on March 10th. There are 99 County Conventions. No one, except maybe the campaigns themselves, has any idea who has the most supporters going to the County Conventions. The County Conventions then select delegates to the 4 Congressional District Caucuses, which are held on April 21st. Each of the 4 Congressional District Conventions selects 3 delegates, total 12, to go to the Republican National Convention. The 4 Congressional District Conventions also select delegates to the Iowa State Convention, which is June 16th. The Iowa State Convention selects 13 more delegates to the Republican National Convention. There are also 3 other delegates which represent Iowa, for a total of 28 that go to the Republican National Convention.

At no point are any of the Iowa delegates obligated to vote for any particular candidate. It is possible that Ron Paul ends up winning all of Iowa's delegates, or none, or anything in between. We won't know for months. What starts the whole thing off, though, is who stuck around after the TV hyped vote and got picked to go to the County Conventions.

I especially
want to thank my Iowa campaign staff, led by Drew Ivers, A.J. Spiker, and David Fischer, as well as those who volunteered on the ground in Iowa.

It is incredible how far we have come in four short years.

We more than doubled our vote count from 2008, and it is clear that the young people who make up the future of our Party overwhelmingly
support freedom.

Of course, the establishment media, in their desperation to keep trying to
make us just give up and go away, is already spinning this as the best we can hope to achieve.

Keep in mind that these are the same people who only a short while ago said we would never break into the top tier!

The simple truth is, there were three tickets out of Iowa, and only two of those campaigns have the resources, funds, volunteers,
and organization to compete nationwide - and one of them is mine.

Last night clearly proved
that the American people - not inside-the-beltway talking heads and so-called "experts" - will decide the outcome of this election.

But we can't afford to let up for even a minute.

In
fact, things will only get more intense from here on out.

You see, the establishment's worst
fears have now come true.

They know that the American people are sick and tired of the damage
they've caused - and that they're willing to take a stand for liberty!

Every attack, distortion,
and outright lie that has been thrown at us so far is only a small taste of what's to come, as the status quo's defenders will do whatever it takes to
defeat our message of individual liberty and constitutional government.

We have to be ready to
not only counter every blow but to undertake the largest offensive yet of this entire campaign.

Millions of undecided voters will head to the polls in the coming weeks - starting in New Hampshire in less than one week.

Your generosity enabled me to get the truth out to the people of Iowa, but it is absolutely vital that I know I can
continue to count on you as we wrap up our efforts in New Hampshire and head into the rest of the key early states.

Please, help me capitalize on last night's incredible finish by donating whatever you are able right
away.

Every dollar will go toward sending more mail, making more phone calls,
running more television and web ads, and carrying out the rest of our proven strategy for success.
