Connnecticut State Police Maj. William Podgorski, one of the lead investigator in the Sandy Hook shooting investigation, died earlier this week. Podgorski, 49, died on Monday following a brief illness and surgery.
The illness was undisclosed, but the New Haven Register reports:
Sometime after surgery on Friday, Podgorski was transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital from another hospital, Grant said. He died there Monday morning surrounded by his family.
According to his obituary:
A state police major from Farmington died Monday at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness.
William Podgorski, 49, was commander of the state police western district, which includes the barracks in Canaan, Litchfield, Southbury and Bridgeport.
Trooper Kelly Grant said Podgorski underwent surgery on Friday, and then was transferred to Yale-New Haven, where he died. She said she did not know the cause of Podgorski's death.
Podgorski was a 24-year veteran of the state police and served in a variety of assignments, including the traffic division, the forensic lab, the governor's security detail and homeland security.
He is survived by his wife and three children, aged 11, 12 and 14.
Podgorski was not only a part of the Sandy Hook investigation, but also was a hero in the community he served.
He was awarded the Lifesaving Award from the department in 2006 after he came upon a woman that had crashed into the railing and had severed her leg. He used a bungee cord from his vehicle to stop the bleeding. Following the incident, paramedics and emergency room doctors said the woman would have died if Podgorski had not acted as he did.
However, this was not the only time he received the award. He also received the same award a second time along with Outstanding Service Awards.
"His career was both varied and extraordinarily accomplished," said Commissioner Dora B. Schriro, of the Department of Emergency Service and Public Protection in a letter to employees Monday.
"Many of us have had the privilege to work with Major Podgorski during his distinguished career and as such, we are all deeply saddened by the passing of such an impactful public servant," Schriro wrote. "His reputation exceeded the bounds of this agency and touched so many of us in Connecticut's law enforcement community and in state government."
There has been much speculation and theories have abounded as to the reality of Sandy Hook, including recent confrontation by citizens against the Newtown Board of Education in which claims were made regarding Sandy Hook being a hoax (see video below).
No lawsuits have been filed by any of the victims' families affected by Sandy Hook, and quite a bit of the reports have not been released from the Sandy Hook investigation. Some questions have been answered, but others such as the AP's time stamped photo files have not been given a sufficient answer. Even state workers have resigned positions claiming that what they knew of the incident has made them sick.
Barack Obama has lied about the weapon used at Sandy Hook and many people believe the incident was staged in order to further a gun confiscation agenda, which failed miserably in 2013. From an interview that I did during the Connecticut gun law implementation ... from someone that knows parents that had children in the school, I was told that children were killed, but that the official story was fabricated. Others dispute even that fact.
In either case, a man who was intimately involved in the investigation has died quite suddenly, which will again arouse suspicions as to the nature of his death and whether it is related to the investigation of Sandy Hook.
