Self-Imposed Isolation
And in the corner my old friend an empty bed in my room
A place to lay in the gloom
No, I'm not quite ready for the tomb
Alone I think it's quite safe for me to presume,
At times I thought being where I am would be a joke
Time goes by the tires revolving around spokes
Who are these extraterrestrial folk?
I used to be such a charismatic bloke,
Something changed within my sphere
The headlights illuminating a deer
Suddenly I became vulnerable to fear
The threats are subliminal and unclear,
They’re reinventing the world today
An era where sanity has gone astray
Where illogical planning is here to stay
We may have to all enter the fray,
Color my world with the human stain
When only animals are allowed to remain
The megalomaniacs are unconcerned with inflicting pain
The traitors are motivated by personal gain,
The question remains, how did I come to this place?
Self-imposed isolation in time and space
Just take a look at the expression on my face
Break the centrifuge glass just in case,
Five air to air victories and I became an “Ace”
But somehow I fell from grace
An inverted flat spin and I disappeared without a trace
Where’s the flower arrangement in my vase?
Unsung, forgotten, and left for dead
All of these impressions going off in my head
Deep in the night is when I realize how much I’ve bled
When I just could have had love instead,
My friend the jig is up!
All world governments are corrupt
Before I’d gotten married if I’d only signed a pre-nup
Drinking chilled wine from a soldier’s tin cup,
Oh Lord, what’s my purpose now?
I’m lacking the prowess of a sacred cow
Only a silhouette of the here and now
A mass grave at the mercy of the plow.
