Setting Sail
Watching the fools dance as if they're free
Always wishing they're someone else they can never be
Shadows that haunt a shallow society
Won't answer the question who'll save me,
Blood moon and a darkened sea at night
The endless nocturn draining colors from my sight
The endless blackness that can never make things right
The cold wind of the winter's bite,
No longer do I wonder where you are
It took way too much time to get that far
No sense in happy hour at the bars
No sense in looking up alone staring at the stars,
All those illusions I lived within somehow
Escaping the disappointments in life I would allow
Only to dodge a shot from across my bow
Nothing that can erase this perpetual scowl,
Still I wonder once all the magic melts off from the dream
Crimson echoes and dimly lit thoughts making me want to scream
Knowing all the time that nothing is what it seems
The momentary promises of peaches and cream,
Setting sail into the horizon all alone
Only God's whispers that chill me to the bone
Showing me what a fool I was and should have known
The poison seeds that realization has sown,
Watching the fools dance as if they're free
Always wishing they're someone else they can never be
Shadows that haunt a shallow society
Won't answer the question who'll save me.
