The Shell Cratered Mound
Here I am in the fast lane
Just ahead of the next Omicron strain
Looking back was my life in vain?
Just trying to ease that strain,
They say it’s just a walk in the park
Suddenly they’re groping in the dark
No new journeys upon which to embark
Just offshore their awaits a shark,
Trying to avoid life’s booby traps
You’re cruising along and suddenly reality snaps
Your loved one died by accident perhaps
Trying to piece it all together but too many gaps,
I needed you but you couldn’t have cared less
Your cruelty left me speechless
Lost everything over a loving caress
In relativity to a point in time-meaningless,
The pitfalls all around just follow that sound
Being chased by the Baskerville’s Hound
Like planting the flag on a shell cratered mound
To think she once held you spellbound,
Time to redirect you fire
To an elevation higher and higher
To that lingering funeral pyre
Remember to swallow that age defier,
With expectations you entered the secret cave
Inside there supposed to be things you craved
Then you found that it was all in the way you behaved
You fell to your knees praying to be saved.
