Thought I'd lost myself today
The meaning seemed so far away

Consumed by a different plan

It won't be a revelation for the devout
Perhaps I was just cast out,
I’ll follow this river if I can
Back in time to where it all began
For all the lost visions I can scan
For all the useless arguments I can stand,
An easy life was never meant for me
Living foot loose and fancy free
With my poisoned cup of tea
Oh the price for thinking free,
If I could only live long enough to show
Which way we could go
The irony of ebb and flow
Too deep in darkness to follow,
When I found the wrong way down
Clinging to my valued crown
Donning my mask made for a clown
Felt like I was going to drown,
Standing at the water’s edge
One last and final pledge
Continued failures create a wedge
All the lies that they allege,
The sky now so silent and blue
Rarely do I think of you
You were always too manic to have a clue
Like the tears that have vanished from view,
If I die on this hill
Was it because Satan had his fill?
Was it that too much blood was spilled?
Was it swallowing the proverbial poison pill?
