So Long Ago

Where do the evil manifestations lie?

Wrapped in the arms of a Chinese spy?

In convicting allegations you can’t deny

The enemy is so cunning and sly,

Walking the tightrope of truth and deception

On a planet so far from redemption

Waiting for the much awaited resurrection

So little time left for reflection,

I couldn’t stop the manifested lies

Where the pain comes and echoes the cries

Where delusion and blame become allies

Where even good intentions are seen as alibis,

This fog of reason blinds so many

I searched for an honest soul but couldn’t find any

In the exploits of a young man only twenty

America was once a land of plenty,

A kiss as sweet as honey so long ago

Then came the betrayals blow by blow

I misjudged a corrupt world and it shows

Mistakenly thought our love would grow,

Like a child I lost my footing and fell

Figuratively stumbling into a wishing well

Fell in love with a southern bell

Things I didn’t know things she wouldn’t tell,

Now there is introspection so far away

The manifested evil comes for a stay

Who knows what will happen day by day

Standing in the face of the storm come what may.
