Social Security
For the first time in history, this Democratic Congress has cancelled an increase in the Social Security cost of living adjustment - COLA). In fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there will not be any COLA in 2011, or 2012 as well.
However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 (approx $8.00 increase) and to $120.20 in 2011 (an addt'l $16.00 increase), the 2012 increase is not decided at this time. This of course causes a Social Security check to be less, not stay at the current amount which means that by 2011 all seniors on Social Security will actually be receiving $24.00 less per month ($48.00 for a couple) then they are now, and remember, the cost of living will continue to rise as well, putting seniors deeper and deeper in the hole.
Remember, Congress passed a bill to get their annual increases automatically so they wouldn't have to be "burdened" with voting for it each year, so they will be receiving in increase in each of these same years while seniors, who are already living or far less, must live on less and less. Who would you say these politicians are watching out for? The people who elected them or for themselves??
Send this to everyone you know. We all have senior friends and loved ones in our lives who will be affected or are seniors ourselves. Remind them not to vote for the incumbent senators and congressmen in the 2010 and the 2012 elections.
