Soul Searching
She walked out of your life like a crimson sunset
"You wouldn't change," she said. This is what you get
Echoes reminding you of when you two first met
At times you feel like someone's lost pet,
Ripples in the waters of a little pond
To a hop over the Pacific for a marital bond
Yes she moved on-a reality you can count on
It was your fault she said just as sure as a new dawn,
This seems to be the fate of a woman and man
Tempting fate upon shifting sands
Doomed to chase shadows in foreign lands
Foolish enough to cut ties and put on a poolside tan,
The illusion of romance you took like a drug
You ignored the troubled signals with a shrug
How many times did she just need a hug?
Now you're living deep in that hole you've dug,
She walked out of your life like a crimson sunset
"You wouldn't change," she said. This is what you get
Echoes reminding you of when you two first met
At times you feel like someone's lost pet,
Did you ever wonder why she wouldn't come back?
Self recrimination the ultimate attack
Ruminating over the past-you have that knack
Perhaps without realizing you helped her pack.
