House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan always has time to party with lobbyists and D.C. insiders, especially if someone else is paying the tab for $300-a-bottle wine.
Ryan always has time to spend in the Fox News studios, where he can practice his softball-hitting skills.
And Ryan will grudgingly allow Wisconsinites who pay a fee a chance to get near him.
But Ryan’s got no time for many of his constituents, especially the ones who are out of work and cannot afford his pay-to-play brand of politics.
That has been obvious this month, as Ryan has refused to hold any town hall meetings during the long August break, when members of Congress traditionally engage with the people who elect them
Instead, Ryan is meeting with paying customers, who can ask him questions if they write a check.
And what do Ryan’s constituents get? Locked doors and warnings from the police.
The congressman’s aides in Kenosha called the police on Aug. 24 to prevent unemployed Kenoshans who were seeking a meeting with the congressman from entering the building where the congressman’s taxpayer-funded office is located.
There was no suggestion that the unemployed Kenoshans were causing trouble.
