The masses are hypnotized

Little trust, everyone is on the sly
Is there anyone upon which you can rely?
It's a sad state of affairs
Like an uncontrolled solar flare
Some of us living a nightmare
Just try to find someone who cares,
Once I thought I knew what it was all about
Sometimes it makes you want to scream and shout
When you’re living in the middle of doubt
Counting off the days to the next blackout,
Oh, my dear, you never really made things clear
I actually believed you’d always be near
Now I’m in a rudderless ship I can’t steer
And I ask, who is that fool staring back from the mirror?
How do you ever really recover
When you’ve been betrayed by so many others
As you sleep shivering alone under the covers
Is there some miracle I have yet to discover?
