“That guy does not need to have guns” – more info on TN gun confiscation incident

Dan Howley is allowing me to release this portion of an email from his attorney below. It was from back in May. Dan Howley did get his guns back, and he did get the charges dropped, but the letter below plus the other info released on this should show that the whole thing was just an attempt by a criminal in uniform, Officer Loftis, to take something that wan’t his from an innocent citizen. If anyone else did this it would be called theft. When Loftis does it, he gets no such label and suffers no consequences. Letter below:

Mr. Howley,

Today, I finally was able to have a conversation with the Trooper Loftis (arresting officer). In a nut shell he told me that he may be willing to dismiss the charges against you if you were willing to surrender the firearms. The Trooper said, “that guy does not need to have guns”. He told me that you stated to him that you had so much ammunition because, “if things got bad at the rally, I was going to help the police”.

I am now going to have a talk with the DA. The DA is the prosecuing attorney. It is their final decision on how to handle a case. They do “listen” to the preference of officers, but they make the final call on any decisions related to prosecutions.

My continued attempt is to get the criminal charges dismissed and for you to get your firearms back. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Have you made any progress on obtaining your carry permit in your state. It may help greatly in getting your guns back if you get the permit.
