The Biggest Tragedy
You were never that patient or very warm
For those few affectionate moments
I just rode out the storm,
But the biggest tragedy of it all
Is that I wished I'd treated you better
Even before the heart breaking fall,
Time is short and life goes by
Why would I ever waste the time to cry?
Now I just look in the mirror and sigh,
You can blame me all you want
Insult me with all your taunts
Remembering I was so pale and gaunt,
I know what made you like you are
The pain that left those emotional scars
But understanding may not get us very far,
A life of anger and confusion
Making such a deadly fusion
Did you ever arrive at any conclusions?
But the biggest tragedy of it all
Is that I wished I'd treated you better
Even before the heart breaking fall.
