The Chameleon
I should have known right from the start
I've never really been that smart
Such emotions tearing me apart
These are the affairs of the heart,
Trying to be the virtuous man
Something always going wrong with the plan
Doing everything you possibly can
Might as well be stranded on desert sand,
Dealing with a chameleon species
Changing colors from love to feces
Transforming bliss into dying trees
Choosing despair over becoming free,
That's the way she stabs me
Snatching failure from opportunity
Truth obscured never seeing clearly
The female chameleon species,
The source of my heartache
I wonder how much more I can take
Eve took her advice from a snake
Was the Garden of Eden just a fake?
I should have known right from the start
I've never really been that smart
Such emotions tearing me apart
These are the affairs of the heart,
The realm of human nature
A self defeating nomenclature
She's beautiful self centered and immature
The chameleon I cannot endure.
