The cost of a lifetime of lies
They'll surely cut you down to size
The ones you intimately trust now compromised
Funny how loved ones contributed to your demise,

Did you capitulate or did you just not see it coming?
Like in the darkened woods that weird humming
She used to look so good in a swimsuit sunning
Wishing you'd kept company with those less cunning,

Betrayal used to be a rare occurrence
In the scheme of things a slight disturbance
But in today's world a major perturbance
Can't insulate yourself or buy insurance,

Where is trust in this day and age?
In a world so corrupt I'm not on the same page
So many walking around in subdued rage
The world has become nothing but a bloody stage,

God's creation transformed into a monstrosity
No more remorse and even less pity
Why did you trade your country paradise for the merciless city?
Your government allows killing unable to declare them guilty,

Whatever happened to the world you once knew?
Shot to hell by a relatively few
Soon as you turned your back government stabbed you
Who can afford to get away for a pretty view?

Watch as the Queen abandons the one wearing the crown
Please don't ask why he looks so down
There's blood on her knife dripping down her gown
There's evil lurking inside of our town,

The enemy within and the enemy from without
How could you Christians let this happen if you're so devout?
Your beloved country is falling just in case you have any doubts
To save yourselves you'll have to do more than shout!

Wishing times were simpler and a little less insane
Wishing all those missiles were way out of range
Who knows maybe a direct hit will minimize the pain
We've reached a time when love is practically in vain,

Can't surrender yet may have to give up my life against the threat,
Cannot believe the reactions of denial bv so many I've met
Always searching for some escapism outlet
The fate of any nation that has become decrepit.
