Every morning I'm forced to leave the world I've created
Deep in my dreams where I'm not threatened or berated
An existence where I'm loved and not hated
A place where egos aren't out of control or over inflated,

Is this playground of reality my only peace of mind?
Is this the only sanctuary I might find?
All those storm clouds, are they silver lined?
In my dream state there are no land mines,

Let's just say I'm the one you say I am
Worthlessly licking my wounds, a real gem
The astronaut who refused to leave the LEM
Refusing to walk on the lunar surface and meet them,

Let's just say as you profess that I am no good at all
Just another fool awaiting their downfall
A pilot experiencing an unrecoverable stall
Let me remind you the one who speaks truth stands tall

Most of us must endure those who tell lies
When even a good man ends up despised
My entire life is surrounded by love compromised
I'm living in a society that has been lobotomized,

But in my dream state there's another land
That has never been perverted by an evil hand
Never been spoiled by diabolical plans
Where I'm embraced by love and glad to be a man,

The only place it seems that I still feel strong
Where I hear the echo of a familiar song
Where I no longer worry about what is wrong
Unlike in this world there's a place I belong.
