Chris of the Family Masters I always appreciate your articles and insights. Don't worry, I'd rather shoot myself than the messenger.
Good analyses Doc. Thank you and don't shoot the messenger....
1)You optimism fails to take into account the loss of jobs due to automation.
2)You fail to take into account that the US electrical grid is already over taxed and due for infrastructure upgrade and is incapable of sustaining the demand of thousands of electrical cars recharging.
3)Each electrical battery alone has 30 times the carbon footprint of a fossil fueled vehicle.
4)Photo Voltaic cells only generate electricity when exposed to light not under clouds, rain, or snow storms when the demand is crucial. They require a lot of square footage that many cities and counties do not have in order to create enough power.
5)Solar panel facilities can blind pilots flying over them as well.
6) Wind turbines are susceptible to high winds where the propellers can go rogue and fly off creating deadly wreckage.
7) Wind turbines have been known to freeze up in the winter and catch fire if the clutch and generator jam. Two technicians were burned to death caught up inside one of these towering monstrosities that also cause bird strikes that take their toll on several species.
8)Green energy is sporadic at best and will not be sufficient during peak load hours as we found out in Texas during the polar winter storm that froze the state and actually killed people. Especially during the demand created in summers accross the southwest US but really all across the country which in the event of failure might even cause more deaths when heat waves occur.
9)The fossil fuel industry accounts for 9 million American jobs 100 thousand in the state of Louisiana alone. These people will not find it easy or convenient to find new jobs suddenly.
10) Lithium batteries which seem all the rage right now, can become suddenly unstable and catch fire. The NTSB unable to solve several plane crashes found out that these planes were storing pallet loads of Lithium batteries that caught fire. Imagine a huge Lithium storage facility catching fire during a peak load periods.
11) Sorry but it would be hard for me to trust the authorities when it comes to trusting the bastards over not owning a vehicle and enxt they will be after property ownership which they are already trying to take away from us.
12)How are most people going to be able to afford 100 thousand dollars per vehicle? Most of us have a hard time buying a ten thousand dollar used car cash.
13) Ford already developed an electric car that ren perfectly in 1978 along with a hydrogen vehicle that was simply an adapted LTD II but it would get vapor lock and stall and they could never figure out how to overcome that problem. The electric prototype had an electric motor on each wheel, when braking it was designed to help recharge the battery, but the battery did account for over 1 thousand pounds of over all vehicle weight. The car was fact and quiet and Ford worried that pedestrian accidents could result from people simply not hearing the electric car.
14) In the event of a wreck as was found with Tesla those cars burn like a paint factory.
I see advantages of electric cars and renewable energy but it is not yet ready for massive replacement of conventional energy which is actually burning much cleaner such as natural gas which the US has virtually unlimited capacity of.
15) Do you remember in the 1960's they were talking about individual houses being fitted with fuel cells so there would be no need for a massive electrical grid. I wonder what happened to that idea?
As always the biggest concern will be how the powers that be will attempt to control all of these developments.
