To his credit, President Trump held off with negotiations as long as possible in trying to reach a non-military solution, but leaked intelligence indicated that nuclear plans were being made whether as a contingency or a first strike is unknown, but the alarm button got pushed. What led the US down this path with Iran who has been calling for death to America and Israel for decades now? What was it that convinced the Trump Administration that finally those seeming idol threats were coming to fruition?

Let’s go back to 1987 when Ronald Reagan’s Administration vowed to keep Iran from ever developing or acquiring nuclear weapons. This came after the Shah was toppled and forced to vacate his office along with the US hostage crisis where all Americans at the US Embassy in Iran were stormed and captured. Being held for 444 days and not being released until Jan.20, 1981 after many bungled attempts by the Carter Administration to free them. America was at an all-time low coupling this with the Vietnam War withdrawal, the US had lost confidence in its military and foreign policy.

By 1987 the culmination of years of diplomatic efforts, President Reagan attained a treaty with Iran just as he had with a nuclear arms reduction agreement with Russia 2 years later to make the world a safer place. Reagan had achieved what no other President could have done. Reduction in nuclear weapons on both sides, resulting in an end to the “Cold War”, a non-nuclear proliferation treaty with Iraq, tearing down the wall that divided Berlin, and an unprecedented pathway to world peace, or so it seemed. Yet, just as the Bible has said all along peace would not be attained until Jesus returns and the Battle of Armageddon is decided!

From then various conflicts took place to ensure that unrest would continue until 9-11 and the resulting Operation Desert Storm would hit the world in 2001. Iran acted as a partner with Iraq allowing the Iraqi air force to escape total inhalation by flying their aircraft to land in Iranian airstrips. As the years went on after the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan the US experienced constant insurgency and rebel forces refusing the proposition of nation building with US efforts to establish a Democratic Republic in the Middle East hoping to encourage more of the neighboring countries to join in the new government structure and cultural change, but the Muslim Brotherhood was having none of that!

Iran began funding terrorism worldwide. US troops were being killed and wounded by forces and devices financed by or made in Iran. A series of betrayals by the Obama Administration saw to it that a uranium enrichment program would succeed. Sanctions that were hindering Iran were lifted by Obama and billions in gold and US Federal Reserve Notes, not to mention other foreign currencies were secretly flown into Iran by charter jet in the dead of night without public or Congressional consent! This served as further investment capital toward more centrifuges for weapon’s grade uranium!

The Iranians were also able to develop missile technology that they intended for use against Israel and anyone else they wanted to harass! Against UN restrictions on ICBM and medium range tests, Iran began launching missile tests in defiance of international approval. When president Obama assigned Secretary of State, John Kerry to negotiate a non-nuclear treaty in violation of the existing 1987 non-nuclear proliferation treaty, a window of opportunity opened for Iran to get exactly what it wanted!

With a faulty agreement that Kerry and his diplomatic buddies celebrated over with champagne, Iran had apparently accepted the terms of the agreement. Under a treaty that was totally abandoned and unenforced, the proposed monitoring and inspections were not allowed, while Iran gun boats harassed US shipping leading to the capture of US Naval personnel, and medium range missile tests continued regardless of the terms of Kerry’s Neville Chamberlain pact destined to fail! The Iranians had no intention of honoring the treaty as 6,000 of their centrifuges hummed away refining uranium!

Question: Why would a nation rich in underground crude oil and having all the cash on hand they needed to invest in solar and other green forms of energy would the Iranian regime need to develop nuclear power so desperately? Could it be that according to their repeated threats to disintegrate Israel from the face of the earth and “Death to America” chants, would they now have the offensive tools to succeed? Why would you threaten the greatest military power in the world as well as its ally, Israel, unless you were developing a form of deadly leverage that you could hold the world hostage over? The current Ayatollah seems committed to doing exactly that! Muslim extremism is of such that they have no fear of death thinking they’ll be rewarded for carrying out their inhuman acts when they reach Allah’s heaven. Wouldn’t nukes be a very expedient way of achieving that idealistic goal? We infidels, as they see us, are the ones who are expandable!

We have arrived at this threshold thanks to treason by the Obama Administration and the failure of the nation building efforts of the Bush White House. The majority of societies in the Middle East, not just Iran, live hundreds of years in the past. They may seem to share many comforts of modern technical development, but the mindset of chauvinism against women, and their world view of the west as corrupt colonialists continues and fuels their cooperation with one another! The Arab States are conniving and untrusting so that no lasting peace can be expected. Human nature is a study in contradiction. If you are accustomed to chaos and bombings chances are even if you have an opportunity to change for the better you will slip back into old self-defeating patterns once again, and this is a simplified explanation of why these people cling to their old ways. Of course, the clash between Christianity and Islam are at the core of this continued struggle.

Here’s the big question though. Say we are confident that we’ve taken out three underground nuclear refinement facilities with our bunker buster bombs, what comes next? Peace at last, intense monitoring so that there never will be another nuclear program, could there be another unknown facility and we’ve only destroyed the decoys? What then?
