The Human Stain
If you're confused just don't complain
Though the world seems to be going insane
Remember to forgive and restrain
You're on this human plane,
If it seems all your efforts were in vain
And your thoughts reflect disdain
You might find it useless to complain
It's only the human stain,
Starting out all my intentions were good
All those tests that I withstood
Getting stabbed in the back not yet understood
You see they call it brotherhood,
You found yourself on the human plane
You found that it's not all sugarcane
Wondering who poisoned your grain
When all you wanted was free reign,
Love is a battle at best
It affords some pleasure but not much rest
You take the risk at your own behest
Pain is the irony that manifests,
Desperation becomes a trusted old friend
The only relationship that never ends
It's one that you stupidly defend
You're on the human plane again,
You're in this foul atmosphere
So you try to drown it with wine and beer
Now the boundaries become unclear
The human stain is oh so near,
She was such a lovely girl
Sifted through trash to find this undiscovered pearl
Didn't matter if her hair was straight or curled
In every parade a baton gets twirled,
The human stain is undeniable
You will find most people are unreliable
It's a miracle that life on earth is viable
Is my glass really half full?
